The flat Coastal Plain south of the Neuse takes days of tropical-storm and hurricane rain that floods low ground and creeks, most homes sit on vented crawl spaces where water hides and rots the floor, rural properties run on septic fields that surcharge when saturated, and a hard winter freeze splits pipes in crawl spaces and outside walls.

Clear gutters, downspouts, yard drains, and ditches, move valuables off low floors and out of the crawl space, know where your main water shut-off is, and watch the Neuse and creek gauges when a system is forecast. If water gets in, call early, because the sooner drying starts the less you lose to mold.

A drain field saturated by days of rain can push sewage back into the house, and that is Category 3 black water carrying bacteria. Do not touch it or run water into the system. We remove it, disinfect, dry the structure, and haul out anything porous that cannot be saved safely.

If it is safe, shut the water off at the main, stay off the wet floor, keep clear of outlets and the panel, and call us. If it is a septic or storm flood, do not touch the water. We talk you through the rest while a crew is on the way.
